Grace Mary Manor
Grace Mary Manor, a joint project of the Housing Authority of the County of Salt Lake and Housing Opportunities, Inc., is the realization of broad community support and an ongoing commitment to ending chronic homelessness. Grace Mary Manor, located at 19 West Gregson Avenue in South Salt Lake, opened in April 2008. Since that time, men and women, who prior to living at Grace Mary Manor, were homeless and have found dignity through permanent supportive housing. The transition has been hard for some of the residents, but they eased through access to on site property management and case management and a range of supportive services through community partnerships.
Grace Mary Manor houses 84 individuals. Each of our 84 residents contributes 30% of monthly income towards rent, with the remainder subsidized through Shelter Plus Care and Project-Based Section 8 voucher programs. Grace Mary Manor provides on-site supportive services and property management. Supportive services are provided through partnership agreements with The Road Home, Volunteers of America and Valley Mental Health.
Permanent supportive housing is designed to offer voluntary and flexible services to residents aimed at maintaining their housing. Supportive housing has proven highly successful in serving homeless populations. Resident housing is not contingent on compliance with services; instead, participants must comply with their lease agreement and receive support as necessary to help them retain their housing.
Grace Mary Manor is helping to bridge the gap in affordable housing for homeless men and women in Salt Lake County by providing housing, rental subsidies and on-site services that help ensure successful tenancy for residents. Grace Mary Manor prolongs and improves the quality of life for homeless men and women in Salt Lake County.
